Stop downplaying your accomplishments
Talk about your accomplishments with confidence.
Not in a condescending tone, not to say “I’m better than you” … just to state the facts.
I don’t know about y’all but I have a lot of trouble doing this. Every time I accomplish something or get recognized for something I’ve done, I always play it down like it’s no big deal … even if it was a really freaking big deal.
I lower my self-confidence under the guise of humility.
I’m trying to switch my mindset from “please don’t think I’m better than you because I accomplished this” to “yes, I accomplished this.” That simple. State the fact. Take ownership, have full accountability, and give credit where credit is due instead of deflecting due credit away from yourself.
I’m not talking down to others when I state my accomplishments because guess what? Every person has a unique path in life with accomplishments only they can achieve. And that’s freakin’ awesome! No one’s the same!
I’m a Christian, and I believe that God is with me every step of the way on this journey that is life. Every accomplishment I have is His as well, and it’s a disservice to the Lord to play down what I’ve done with Him. So instead of saying “Thanks, it was not big deal,” I’m challenging myself to start saying, “Thanks, that took a lot of hard work and I honestly couldn’t have done it without God by my side!” Anybody else feel me on this?!
