Longwood Gardens Engagement Session | Erica and Jake
Some Backstory
Erica and Jake have some interesting luck when it comes to rain. We first met for their Longwood Gardens engagement session on the evening of a beautiful summer day. But just as we were about to get out of our cars, the heavens opened and rain came POURING down. Like, the kind of pouring that ain’t gonna stop anytime soon. 🤣 So we rescheduled their session for a sunnier evening later on that month!!
(For those interested, I photographed Erica & Jake two more times: their wedding day and Erica’s 30th birthday. Yes … it rained both times. How about that?!)
The Session
Anywho, Erica & Jake’s Longwood Gardens engagement session: take two finally rolled around and they showed up wearing the exact same outfits as before, ready go to!! We meandered throughout the park, stopping for photos at cool spots along the way. Some of the regulars on my list are the gazebo in the woods, the fountain garden, the meadow and the conservatory. It was with Erica & Jake that I first discovered the meadow and shoot dang I am so glad we did!!! On our way out of the meadow we stumbled upon this beautiful ray of light in the woods. I immediately stopped them so we could make some super cool light-focused portraits – check ’em out below!!
We were also able to spend a good amount of time exploring the conservatory. This is my favorite part of Longwood Gardens – a common favorite for a reason! There are so many different rooms within the conservatory and each room has a unique look filled floor to ceiling (literally) with colorful flowers and cool plants. One of my favorite shots from their session included a cactus (say whaaaat?)!! They are constantly changing the rooms in the conservatory just like the landscaping in the rest of the park, so it’s fun to come back for engagement sessions and see the changes.
Longwood Gardens is definitely one of my favorite places to shoot engagement sessions. Check out the highlights from Erica & Jake’s gallery below to see why!! (And click HERE for some of my other top garden-style engagement session locations!)
