Why you MUST make time for getting ready … with the groom!
We all know the bride is going to be STUNNING on her wedding day. And those cool detail photos and fun layouts with the rings, invitations, flowers, shoes, jewelry, etc … those typically happen with the ladies. But, hey, the groom cleans up pretty nice, too. And it’s just as much his day as it is hers — a marriage requires two “I do’s”!
I LOVE photographing the groom as he gets ready with his boys … I feel like lots of guys generally have up these emotional walls and are very stoic. But getting ready to publicly declare your love to your future wife? That’s a pretty vulnerable state to be in. And vulnerability is great for three things: powerful portraits, quiet moments and lots of teasing from the groomsmen 😉

ALSOOOO, here’s a neat idea for you: A solo bride portrait and a solo groom portrait would look SO sleek in a double frame on the wall, side by side. And to complete the group, hang a landscape portrait of the bride & groom together either above or below the two solo portraits. How’s that for gorgeous wall decor?!
If y’all are getting ready in separate locations, there are two ways to get around that barrier to make sure we get those groom photos covered:
1. Hire a second photographer! If you book a wedding with me, some of my packages will include a second photographer (but not all). Unless you’re having a super duper small & intimate wedding, I always think second photographers are worth the investment!
2. Book your photographer for more time! I have zero qualms about driving around to photograph different things on your wedding day … as long as there’s plenty of time to do it!
