John and Erin are engaged and their Bethlehem engagement photos were the perfect way to celebrate!!

We finally met in person a full nine months after they booked their wedding and it felt like picking up with old friends right away! Their wedding is coming up next fall and even though they moved to Boston during the early planning days, Pennsylvania still has their hearts thanks to family ties and meaningful memories here.

Why Bethlehem Was the Perfect Engagement Session Location

Bethlehem is especially close to them because they spent a big part of their early dating days in this town, which made it the ideal location for their engagement session. When couples choose a place that already holds personal meaning, the photos always feel more natural and connected and that was absolutely the case here!

From Ivy Covered Paths to the D&L Trail

For their Bethlehem engagement photos, we went into the session with four clear goals! We wanted some classic downtown shots, a few nature focused photos featuring ivy, images at the bar and restaurant where they had their first date and a photo along the D&L Trail. It sounds ambitious but everything is conveniently close together in Bethlehem, which made it easy to move around and keep the session relaxed!

Downtown Bethlehem truly delivers every time! Between the string lights, historic red brick buildings and little pockets of greenery, it offers so much variety in a small area. While wandering through town, John and Erin even ran into a couple who own a floral business and ended up exchanging business cards for the wedding! That kind of spontaneous moment is part of what makes engagement sessions so fun and memorable.

One of my favorite things about Bethlehem engagement photos is how the town blends charm with character. You can go from cozy streets to leafy trails in minutes, which keeps galleries feeling dynamic without needing a long drive – it is such a great option for couples who want variety without the stress of travel!

A big shoutout goes to John for powering through the summer humidity in a full suit jacket for half the session – that is true commitment right there!! And Erin’s outfit choices were also a dream to photograph! Her flowy blue and white floral dress moved beautifully and added such a soft pop of color against Bethlehem’s textures.

These Bethlehem engagement photos perfectly captured their energy, their history and the joy they bring out in each other. I cannot wait to see where their next chapter takes them and to celebrate alongside them again soon!

I was already looking forward to photographing their Poconos wedding next year but after spending this time with them, that excitement multiplied fast!
