American Swedish Historical Museum Wedding | Philadelphia, PA
Elaine and Dave’s wedding at the American Swedish Historical Museum in Philadelphia, PA, was filled with so much joy! From the emotional ceremony in Old City to their reception filled with personal touches, every part of their celebration showed the thought and intention they put into even the tiny details. Everywhere you turned, you could feel the love they shared with their favorite people!
What Makes an American Swedish Historical Museum Wedding So Special?
The American Swedish Historical Museum is a beautiful Philadelphia wedding venue with grand architecture, elegant interiors and gorgeous spaces for wedding portraits.
For Elaine and Dave, it was the perfect location to celebrate their “Old Hollywood meets East Coast Grunge” Wedding Vibe! The museum offered beautiful spots, both indoors and out, to explore and capture memories. The grand staircase became the setting for one of the most memorable moments of the day!
Elaine had been dreaming of a Vanderpump-inspired group photo for months. With everyone dressed up and perfectly positioned along the staircase, they absolutely CRUSHED it! This was easily one of the most fun portraits of the entire day!
A Wedding Morning Filled With Meaningful Details
Elaine started her wedding morning at Bardot Bridal Hair in Philadelphia, while Dave got ready at the Kimpton Hotel Monaco.
The morning was full of sweet moments and thoughtful details. Elaine’s custom DIY shoes and handmade ring holders from Dave’s mom were just a few of the personal touches that made their day feel like them.
One especially emotional moment came when a bridesmaid surprised Elaine with a letter. As it turns out, Elaine had written it back in second grade to encourage her friend before her First Communion! It was the kind of moment that perfectly captured the love from the people surrounding them and thoughtfulness woven throughout their wedding.
Where Did Elaine and Dave Get Married in Philadelphia?
Elaine and Dave exchanged vows at Old St. Joseph’s Church in Old City Philadelphia before moving to their reception at the American Swedish Historical Museum. Elaine cried happy tears as she walked down the aisle, throughout the ceremony and again as the newlyweds made their exit. Their happiness was impossible to miss!
Afterward, the wedding party and family headed to Washington Square Park for portraits. The park gave their photos a beautiful Philadelphia backdrop. And then came a very special surprise! Their sweet pup, Mindy, stopped by wearing the cutest little green bow. Naturally, she stole a few hearts along the way!
A Philadelphia Wedding Reception Full of Personality
Elaine and Dave made sure their guests felt just as special as they did. During cocktail hour guests discovered handwritten notes from the couple as part of their seating chart. There was also a film photo scavenger hunt and a “doodle yourself” board!
These weren’t just fun activities. They were little intentional ways for Elaine and Dave to connect with the people who had come to celebrate their marriage. The reception continued with enthusiastic cheers, special dances to honor loved ones and so much happiness.
The Garton’s celebration felt personal from beginning to end. Exactly how a wedding day should feel!
