What exactly are “adventure elopements”?
What a great question!! I’m so glad you asked … adventure elopements are so much fun 😉
Elopements in general
First off, let’s go over what an elopement is in 2022. Traditionally, the verb “to elope” was thought of as running away to get married without notifying friends or family, sometimes suddenly so. Nowadays, the definition of elopement has greatly expanded as the traditional idea of a wedding becomes less structured and more vague.
The term elopement is now more commonly referred to a super intimate wedding ceremony. Sometimes it’s just the couple getting married and the officiant; sometimes a photographer and/or videographer is involved; sometimes immediate family and one or two close friends are invited to witness the ceremony.
Elopements tend to focus on the core purpose of a wedding: the marriage ceremony. That means there is no formal reception or celebration after the ceremony.
But that doesn’t mean an elopement can’t be fun as heck.
Adventure Elopements
Adventure elopements are when you elope … while on an adventure. Often times, adventure elopements include hiking or getting to a beautiful vista to say “I do”. But they don’t have to — the beautiful thing about adventure elopements is that you can make it whatever you want it to be and completely tailor it to fit your specific relationship! It’s essentially getting married without the traditional wedding but also without sacrificing any of the fun or pizazz.
Do you & your hunny have a favorite park where you walk the dogs? BOOM — adventure elopement. Do you frequent a specific beach that has a special place in your heart? BOOM — adventure elopement. Have you always dreamed of getting married in Scotland but you don’t have the budget to host a full wedding in another country? BOOM — adventure elopement. Could you not care less about getting married in a courthouse but want to celebrate with pizza & beer down by the lake? BOOM — adventure elopement.
Why elope?
There are SOOOO many different reasons that couples choose to elope. Maybe their family lives really far away, maybe they don’t want to spend thousands on a traditional wedding, or maybe they just really want their wedding day to be about the two of them and nobody else! Whatever the reason, there are more options available to you than a courthouse with an officiant you’ve never met. Let your imagination run wild … and then just do it!!!
Have you ever considered adventure elopements? What kind of adventure would you go on to say “I do” to the love of your life?? I’d love to hear in the comments section!!! 🤗👇🏼
