Michael originally planned the sweetest proposal for Michaela – April 23rd, just one day after their dating anniversary, under the cherry blossoms she absolutely loves 🥹
He had everything lined up at Brooklyn Botanic Garden, one of the most iconic spots for spring proposals in New York City. The timing, the setting, the meaning behind it all … it was already perfect!
An Unexpected Twist That Made It Even More Special
A few weeks before the proposal, Michael got unexpected news: the gardens had accidentally allowed his booking during a time they were actually closing early to prepare for a festival later that evening.
At first, this might sound stressful. But it turned into something even better. The gardens still allowed him to propose – but there would be no other guests inside.
And honestly? It doesn’t get more romantic than having an entire garden of blooming cherry blossoms all to yourselves!!
A Private Proposal Under the Cherry Blossoms
When April 23rd arrived, everything aligned perfectly. The weather was absolutely beautiful, and the cherry blossoms were in full bloom. Truly peak spring in New York City.
Michael and Michaela walked into the gardens as the only guests, surrounded by quiet pathways and soft pink blooms as staff prepared for the evening festival.
He led her down a stunning row of cherry blossom trees, and in that peaceful, private moment, he got down on one knee and asked her to marry him.
She said YES!!! And immediately dropped down to meet him for the sweetest, joy-filled kiss.
