4 Tips for Hiring a Wedding Photographer
The reason I’m even writing this blog post is because I’m not the best photographer for every single couple getting married … and that’s okay!! Choosing a wedding photographer is extremely important; among many other factors, they’ll be with you allll day for your wedding AND the pictures they take that day will last you a LIFETIME. Here are my tips to choosing the perfect wedding photographer:
-
Stalk their work!!!
You want to make sure you love their photography style. Try to envision yourself & your fiancé in some of their photos. Can you see it? -
Look for variety.
Not just in the types of pictures they post, but in the different lighting situations as well. Are all of their pictures at “golden hour” or can they handle bright sunlight and dark reception ballrooms, too? -
Check their prices.
This one’s tricky — good photographers are an investment for MANY reasons. Besides their photography, they’ll work with you throughout your planning process and give you tips & tricks you never would have thought of on your own! And their photos of your wedding day will last FOREVER (literally). However, don’t go bankrupt over this decision. To quote the great Harry Styles, it’s a fine line 😉 -
Talk before you book!
This one is SUPER important — I never book without first talking to a couple either over the phone, via FaceTime or in person. Why? Our personalities MUST mesh well. We gotta click. Weddings are exciting but also stressful … do you want a calm & gentle voice to ease your nerves or would you rather a really loud pep talker to hype you up?
I know how much of a beast wedding planning can be for someone who’s never been there before. Hiring a photographer is usually the second or third step (behind choosing a date & booking a venue). From there, a photographer can provide valuable insight and even offer recommendations for other vendors to look into! Hopefully these tips take some pressure off in your wedding planning journey 🙂
