Non-traditions to Consider for Your Wedding
Listen, traditions are traditions for a reason — a lot of them are super sweet or really freaking fun! That being said, there are a few “non-traditions” that might be worth including in your wedding day. Check ‘em out!!

Brides, the first dance with your dad is a special moment … but what about a first dance with your mom? My mom & I are BFFs, which I know isn’t the case for everyone, but it’s worth considering honoring all your mom has done for you with a special dance.

Consider doing a choreographed first dance — and make it fun!! My dear friend Zoe did a choreographed first dance with her dad and it was SO sweet … and quite entertaining! The crowd LOVED it, and it gave them a reason to spend some extra time together before the wedding.

Read or deliver letters to each other before the ceremony. I wouldn’t quite call this “nontraditional”, but a detail like this can often be forgotten about when dealing with big things like booking a venue and a florist and a caterer and a DJ etc. etc. (Hint: If you’re not doing a first look and you deliver the letters to each other, make sure y’all read the letters out loud and get it on camera!)

Have a mismatched wedding party!! Now this is totally up to personal preference but I LOVE mismatched bridesmaids … and groomsmen. People tend to forget about the guys when fashion is up for debate, but Y’ALL. Please Google mismatched groomsmen and you’ll see what I mean. Case closed.
If you’re anything like me, you’ve been scouring Instagram and Pinterest for fun ideas and details to incorporate into your wedding day. But please remember that your wedding day is just that — YOURS. You get to call the shots. Whatever you want to do, sis, you freaking DO!! 😉
