“Should I hire a second wedding photographer?”
Are you asking yourself if it’s worth hiring a second photographer for your wedding? If so, listen up my friend!!
There are a few things to consider before choosing to add a second photographer to your wedding package:
How large is your wedding?
If you’re having an intimate ceremony with 60 guests, chances are a second photographer is not going to benefit your wedding gallery. If you’re pushing 200 guests … I would definitely recommend bringing a second photographer on board!
Are you on a tight schedule?
If so, a second photographer can help speed things along. For example, during wedding party photos, the main photographer can focus on the bride & bridesmaids while the second photographer parties it up with the groom & groomsmen (while getting epic photos, obviously). Then those photos are done in half the time and you have more time to mingle with guests/get dreamy bride + groom portraits!
Where are y’all getting ready?
If the groomsmen are prepping right down the hall, a single photographer can easily pop in there for some pre-ceremony photographs. However, if they’re in an entirely different location — this is where the second photographer shines. Especially if you’re opening gifts during the ceremony and want documentation of the reactions!
Do you want your guests to have photos, too?
Sometimes it’s a nice treat to be able to send your guests photos of themselves after the wedding. It’s almost like a built-in “thank you” gift! Plus, your guests will probably be dressed to the nines for your wedding, and who doesn’t want to post photos of themselves looking absolutely FLY?!
Make sure you check with your wedding photographer before making this decision. Some photographers will include it in their wedding package. Because some of my weddings are on the smaller side, not all of my packages include a second photographer. But if we do decide on a second photographer, I’ll be the one to hire them 😉
