Carpenter’s Hall Engagement Session
Let me tell ya, Julia and Amaury are some of the sweetest, kindest people on this whole entire planet and I had the absolute honor of photographing their engagement!! These two lovebirds had gotten engaged in New York City a few months prior to their engagement session. Since they live in Philadelphia, they reached out to me to do a more Philly-themed session to celebrate their engagement. I said “say less” and we immediately started planning their Carpenter’s Hall engagement session!!
Carpenter’s Hall
Julia and Amaury wanted to start their session with a picnic at Carpenter’s Hall in Old City Philadelphia and finish with champagne at Washington Square Park down the street. And when I say they went all out for their session, I mean alllllllllll out!!! For their picnic, Julia and Amary brought fancy cheese, colorful macaroons AND a French baguette, complete with an adorable picnic basket set!! They laid the blanket under a beautiful willow tree and ate to their heart’s content while I snapped photos of them being all cute and in love. (Check out this blog post for more ideas on how to use a blanket at your engagement session!)
After the picnic, we ventured around Carpenter’s Hall – the willow tree, the architecture, the cobblestone, you name it! Julia changed up her look between photos by putting on/taking off her shoes and putting her hair up/leaving it down. (Pro Tip: This is a great way to get variation in your photos without doing an outfit change!!!)
Washington Square Park
Then it was time for things to get a bit more fancy. Julia miraculously changed into a stunning satin dress in the car and emerged looking like she belonged in the center of a grand ballroom!! Amaury cleaned up real nice as well and the two of them strolled hand in hand, looking like a celebrity couple.
We stopped at the 18th Century Garden on our way to Washington Square Park. Though the garden may be small, it is absolutely GORGEOUS. We couldn’t go into the gazebo because there was a couple on a romantic date inside, but we got our fill of beautiful photos around the rest of the garden!
Instead of taking photos in Washington Square Park, Julia really wanted to take photos in front of an ivy wall next to the park. And I’m so glad she did – the photos were awesome!!! I had them do a romantic dip kiss in front of the wall and we were even able to re-create a photo Julia had saved on Pinterest. To cap off the night, Julia and Amaury popped the champagne, cheersed each other, and posed like they were on the cover of Vogue!!!
