Golden, Autumn Philadelphia Art Museum Engagement Session
Even though Miriam & Evan currently live in California, they wanted to honor their early years of dating with a Philadelphia Art Museum engagement session this past fall.
Art Museum Engagement Session
The Art Museum was top on my list of recommended locations for Miriam & Evan’s session during our brainstorming session. They wanted a very “Philadelphia” location to commemorate their time in the city before moving to California. As for the “photographable” nature of the museum, I’d give it a 10/10!
We started in the backyard of the museum, making sure to incorporate the golden, autumn leaves in their photos. We slowly made our way to the front of the museum, stopping by some gorgeous landscaped areas along the Schuylkill River Trail. Funny story – as we were taking pictures on the trail, we had to take a break to let a Segway tour make their way past us 🤣 It was hilarious!!!
As we were making our way up to the front of the museum, I noticed the most beautiful golden light shining on an ivy wall and we made a super romantic, unplanned photo!!! By the time we walked up the Rocky Steps, the sun was fading low into the sky and giving out the softest light – my favorite time to take pictures! I got an incredible shot of Miriam and Evan walking into the sunset hand-in-hand at the end.
The Importance of Location
There are a few factors that go into choosing the perfect engagement session location. The location is a really important part of your photos, which is why I always help my couple choose the perfect spot! Wherever we end up taking photos dictates the vibe of the session, the feel of the photos and the memories you will one day look back on. It’s kind of like a giant puzzle – matching the location to your dream vibe, feel and sentimental value!
When choosing the Art Museum for their engagement session, sentimental value was top of the list for Miriam and Evan. They met in Pennsylvania and lived in Philadelphia earlier in their relationship. Then came the vibes – they both love the outdoors and wanted to include that in their session. Luckily, the Art Museum has a good amount of green space and landscaping surrounding it. Lastly, the memory aspect. The Art Museum is such an iconic landmark in Philadelphia with a very romantic architecture and grandiose view of the city. Miriam and Evan come back periodically to visit Evan’s family, so the Art Museum would be an easy sight to pass by and have fond memories of.
