Dani and Dawson are ENGAGED!!! And after months of planning, keeping secrets and getting their family and friends involved, Dawson pulled off the sweetest surprise proposal during a gorgeous May weekend in Sea Isle City, New Jersey!

Dani had no idea just how big of a weekend it was about to become when they headed to the Jersey Shore with family and friends to celebrate her recent graduation from pharmacy school.

Graduated AND engaged? Talk about a pretty unforgettable few days!

For Dani and Dawson, a sunny May evening and golden hour light made it even more special!

They first met on a dating app and had been together for two and a half years when Dawson got down on one knee. Much of their relationship had been long distance due to Dawson’s work and Dani being in school. When they did spend time together, they played sports, travelled, dined out and hung out with their dog, Duke.

Then came the moment Dawson had been waiting for. With the family all at the beach celebrating and golden hour rays starting to cast a warm glow, Dani and Dawson walked away from the group and made their way toward the blanket, flowers and card that were waiting for them on the beach.

Except Dani was so excited that she started saying “yes” during his speech before he even officially asked her to marry him!!! 😂

Her reaction was pure joy, and the excitement only continued when they walked back toward their family and friends.

It’s not often I get to photograph a proposal with so many loved ones waiting nearby, which made this one extra special. There were hugs, happy tears and SO much excitement as everyone finally got to celebrate the secret they had helped Dawson keep!

Celebrating With Their Favorite People

One of the sweetest parts of Dani and Dawson’s proposal was that they got the best of both worlds.

The proposal itself gave them a few minutes together on the beach, but their family and friends were right there afterward to celebrate with them. Some even jumped in for post proposal photos, making the memories of the moment even sweeter! For a couple who loves spending time with the people closest to them, it felt like such a fitting way to begin their engagement.

Once the hugs and celebrations settled down a little, Dani and Dawson snuck away again. This time for some engagement photos of just the two of them!

Their entire proposal and engagement session lasted about an hour, with everything taking place right there at the beach in Sea Isle City.

We wandered along the sand and used a nearby grassy area for some extra variety. Dani and Dawson kicked off their shoes, splashed in the waves and laughed together. They had literally JUST gotten engaged!

There was no pressure to manufacture excitement for the camera because the excitement was already there. They were bubbly, happy and full of giggles. Basically, the epitome of feeling on top of the world!!!
