Romantic Downtown Engagement Session in Media
Jenny and Ryan’s downtown engagement session was definitely one for the books!! Media, a town outside Philadelphia, plays an important role in their relationship. It’s where they met, went on lots of dates AND got engaged!!!
Downtown Engagement Session
The great part about doing your engagement session in a downtown area is the variety of photos you can get. There are typically lots of different types of buildings I can use to create unique photos, and we can usually find some sort of open space to get away from the architecture. One of my favorite parts about downtown sessions is the ability to go inside! Most photoshoots take place either outside or in a studio, so the ability to have vibey indoor pictures (especially at a bar!!) is super cool.
In Jenny and Ryan’s case, we spent the first half of their session outside and the second half inside. We first walked through the downtown area and took photos at various hotspots specific to Media. Some of my favorites were taken in front of the courthouse – a grand, marble building. We finished inside a restaurant that also had a cute bar area. I photographed Jenny and Ryan sipping an espresso martini through the window of the bar, which added to the nostalgic feel of their downtown session. And since we were the only ones there (it was about 3:30 p.m.), the staff let us go upstairs to take pictures in the restaurant!
The sweetest part? It was the restaurant where Jenny and Ryan went on their first date … and got engaged!!!!
An Intentional Location
Jenny and Ryan have some pretty special memories in the town of Media. Though they live elsewhere now, a lot of their courtship took place downtown. Being able to revisit those special places and document them forever with their engagement photos really added to the romantic nature of the session!
Something to consider when choosing a location for your engagement session is sentimental value. Is there a place that evokes sweet memories with each other or that is important to your relationship? If not, what kind of place would you want to create a special new memory at with your engagement session?
